Destination Wedding - Not Good
When you get bad advice, and learn the very hard way!

Since I have had this conversation with other travel advisors and clients as least hundreds of times over the decades, the following verbiage which I took from an otherwise great testimonial, speaks loudly for what I have always told everyone,
'If you want to avoid any potential problems and have your wedding dress when you get married, take it with you on the plane.'
And to be clear, the travel agent DID NOT recommended shipping it, the Dress shop did. Which is another reminder, an expert in one area is not an expert in all others.
From clients:
" It was fantastic, everyone keeps telling us it was the "best wedding ever". We had a great time. There was one major road bump ! We were advised by our dress maker to ship the wedding dress by UPS. She shipped it for us on 9 July so the dress would be there when we arrived (Huge Mistake). The shipping label stated from "In White dress shop" to "RESORT NAME " our names were not on the package and customs held the dress. I spent 8 hrs. on Tues. in a customs office jumping through hoops. The resort did have two people with me to assist in getting the dress, but did not provide a shuttle to the airport for me. The shuttle cost $100.00 customs wanted $1,000.00 for the package. In the end customs got another $89.00 + $100.00 for taxi + $308.00 UPS+ almost an entire day of my vacation.
We could have carried the dress on the plane for nothing, but thought (advised) it would be better to ship to avoid any issues!
